In recent years, dSLR cameras have been used extensively in astrophotography with Canon and Nikon dSLR cameras leading the way and giving some very impressive results.

Astronomiser has developed a serial shutter release cable for computerised shutter control of 300D/ 350D and 400D cameras and a modification to N3 type remote controls to allow accessories including the serial shutter release control cable to be used with the 10D, 20D, 30D and 40D and other N3 connector type cameras.

The only real draw back with 'out-of-the-box' Canon and Nikon cameras has been that the fitted filter cuts a large amount of the red light at particular frequencies, giving a very poor response in the crucial Hydrogen Alpha band of emission nebulae. Astronomiser now offers a solution to this problem by offerring a filter replacement service for Canon cameras and a filter removal service for Nikon camers.

Canon Power Supplies...

A converter that changes a DC 13.8v supply to suit a Canon dSLR camera. Power your camera from a power station, bench power supply or car/ leisure battery. Do away with the need for frequent battery changes and constant re-charging or the annoyance of returning to your scope only to find that your camera's battery died 20 minutes before.

Modified dSLR cameras...

Astronomiser offer brand new astronomy modified Canon 350D dSLR camera kits and second hand dSLR camera kits. Canon 350D kits start offer a highly affordable high quality, high resolution (8 Mega Pixel), dedicated astronomy camera capable of superb results. Second hand cameras have all been checked over thoroughly and have the same one year guarantee as new cameras. These cameras are most likely to be Canon 300Ds and canon 350Ds.

Astronomiser make serial control cables can be used to operate your Canon Camera from your PC using software such as DSLR Focus.

We also offer a modification service to N3 remote controllers which allow them to be used with the 300D/ 350D and 400D models or alternatively, to allow the N3 connector to be used in conjunction with the standard serial control cables to control 10D, 20D, 30D and 40D cameras.

This is done by replacing the original IR blocking and antialiasing filter with a Baader IR and UV blocking filter. This filter has a much sharper transition between passing visible light frequencies and blocking UV and IR giving a optimised response for Astro Imaging.
