Mount Control Cables
Control your telescope from your computer or laptop - these cables can be used in conjunction with planetarium software for computer controlled 'go-to' functions. Some handsets and software also support autoguiding over ASCOM using these cables - check with your telescope mount/ handset manual.
All cables are made using strong thermoplastic or ABS DB9 shells or in the case of the 'performance' cables, tough die-cast metal. Cables are FCC68 data rated multi copper cored with tough black PVC outer insulation. This cable is very lightweight and flexible and has very low resistance over relatively long distances (e.g., 20m or 65 feet) for endurance outdoors and 100% reliability. Modular (phone type) connectors have rounded brass contacts giving excellent surface contact and high durability in plug - unplug applications.
For effective computer control of your telescope mount you will need to download the latest Ascom Drivers.

SkyFi Telescope control.
SkyFi and the Orion licenced version of this, the Orion Starseek WiFi Module, which are now widely available from general astronomy dealers can work using the supplied adapter with any of the below serial cables, or alternatively, astronomiser now offers direct cables for these, either 1m or 3m.
SkyFi is designed to work with iPhone and Mac apps to control your telescope using SkySafari planetarium software, but it works by establishing a wi-fi connection and giving the SkyFi unit an IP address. This means that it will work as a virtual COM port (as a USB to Serial adapter does). Software such as HW VSP3 will allow you to set a virtual serial port address (i.e., COM5) for the SkyFi device and then it can be run wirelessly from a PC or laptop meaning that not only can you control your mount from planetarium software, you can send guiding corrections.

This cable will allow you to: - Use a personal computer to directly control a Meade AutoStar telescope through the use of an astronomical software program with telescope control capabilities, such as The Sky or Starry Night.
- Download a new version of the AutoStar software or updated object information from the Meade web site to your AutoStar with Meade's easy-to-use AutoStar Update (ASU) program.
- Autoguide over ASCOM connection from autoguiding software such as PhD guiding, wxAstroCapture etc.

This cable can be used in conjunction with Autostar Update.
This cable can't be used as a replacement for the meade #506 cable - there is no manufacturer of the #506 cable other than Meade.

To connect your ST-4 Guide Camera's control box to your telescope mount
This cable is configured DB15 (Control box 'relay' port) to 6 pin RJ11/ RJ12 'Guider' or 'CCD' connector on telescope mount for the standard and SS2K versions, and going to a 6 pin mini DIN plug for the Takahashi cable - please check with your mount's manual for compatibility.
There are three variants of this cable - for standard ST-4 guide inputs as appear on most guidable mounts (e.g., Losmandy, SynScan, Meade), a version for SS2K controllers and a version for Takahashi mounts that have a six pin DIN guide input socket.
