This cable will allow you to:

• Use a personal computer to directly control a Meade AutoStar telescope through the use of an astronomical software program with telescope control capabilities, such as The Sky or Starry Night.
• Download a new version of the AutoStar software or updated object information from the Meade web site to your AutoStar with Meade's easy-to-use AutoStar Update (ASU) program.
• Autoguide over ASCOM connection from autoguiding software such as PhD guiding, wxAstroCapture etc.

For all models of SkyScan and SynScan handset, this cable can be used to point your scope from planetarium software that includes telescope control i.e., The Sky and Starry Night. For version 3 handsets, this cable can also be used for firmware updates and for autoguiding your scope using software such as PhD Guiding and wxAstroCapture etc.

In your software when selecting telescope type, select NexStar handset versions, i.e., NexStar 5 or 5i.

To connect your ST-4 Guide Camera's control box to your telescope mount

This cable is configured DB15 (Control box 'relay' port) to 6 pin RJ11/ RJ12 'Guider' or 'CCD' connector on telescope mount for the standard and SS2K versions, and going to a 6 pin mini DIN plug for the Takahashi cable - please check with your mount's manual for compatibility.

There are three variants of this cable - for standard ST-4 guide inputs as appear on most guidable mounts (e.g., Losmandy, SynScan, Meade), a version for SS2K controllers and a version for Takahashi mounts that have a six pin DIN guide input socket.
